3:36 PM Stadium I popped into Wembley this afternoon (I grew up there, dontcha know) to pay a visit to my uncle and thought I'd drop by the new stadium to see how the work is going on. Stringent security is obviously not a plus there, as I went down a works-only area and nobody said anything. I took a picture with my phone and decided to go a bit closer. Could it be that the Citroen Saxo is a common builder's vehicle and they mistook me for one of their fellow rustic slack-jawed workmen? "Oh great, whenever a woman walks by, I suppose it will be my job to lead the hooting: 'Oh yeah! Shake it madam! Capital knockers!' "

12:22 AM Mmmmmmelua! I've just been watching Channel 4's Top 100 Albums (Are they seriously saying the Urban Hymns is better than The Bends? Give me strength...) and was taken aback by pundit Kaite Melua. I have no idea who she is, I'm assuming someone musical. Can anyone help? If she's a Pop Idol or Fame Academy winner I won't be impressed. Hoochie mama!!!

2:49 PM The Metro: Day 4 Last day of the Metro gigs!! :( I met everyone at the Sports Bar and then navigated the crew towards the Pyke. Someone thought it'd be fun to stop in front of the Starbucks on Coventry Street and take a group photo and we ended up blocking the whole pavement. Gareth donned a great American accent and pretended to be a tourist ("f*****g limey pri*ks!!") which was hilarious!! When we got to the Pyke we grabbed some food and I bumped into Cath from the Italy trip last year, which was nice. Onto the Cro again and then then the venue for some more rock! I think it was the same set list as Tuesday which is great for me because I don't really recall much from that night. The music was the best from all four nights and the pit was great. Hearing 'Old Folks' and 'Foghorn' again was wicked, and I'm really loving 'Worst Thing' off the new album. Pedro was jammy enough to get a shout out, but they didn't play my request of 'House Under The Ground' unfortunately. After the band finished everyone hung around for a while and it was all very emotional, we'd all had such a fantastic time this week (these posts don't remotely do it justice) and now it was over :( I said my farewells and then left. But they're back on the road in May! BRING IT ON!!! Leave a comment ::

12:00 PM The Metro: Day 3 After Tuesday's exertions I decided it was best to stick to non-alcoholic refreshment. We met up at the Montague Pyke again and then headed off to the Cro Bar. Some idiot thought it would be funny to snatch Deano's chair as he was about to sit down and Dean was about one millimetre away from lamping him in the face. Apparently the same guy almost got into a fight with Gareth later at the gig! The band rocked again, and a definite highlight was Winter Of 96 which I've never seen live. The songs off the new album which they played sounded ace, though some of them had similar structures and riffs to some HiFi songs. Leave a comment ::

1:31 PM The Metro: Day 1 Yesterday was the first of the 'A' gigs at the Metro, and it was amazing! I met up with Sam and Andi in Sloane Square and quickly headed for the nearest pub and pints of Staropramen followed. Gradually loads of people started coming in, and we were joined by Dean, Pedro, Maggie, Amy, Gareth, Ben, The Turnip, Clive and many others. We headed off to Warners (was funny seeing everyone running for the bus when I got on it!) and we were welcomed into a room with loads of food and beers. Naturally nobody was touching the food everybody was reaching for the Kronenberg! Then the moment we were all waiting for, the mighty 'A' entered!!! It was so cool seeing the boys again and listening to the new album. There are some beef riffs on the tracks and some very chilled tunes too, and throughout JP was on the spot dancing to all the tracks! Had a good chat with Neato about the album and various things, and I got Dan and Yin to listen to my mash-ups which they were well impressed with! After all that we headed off to a pub (led by the fountain dancing Neato) and then the Wetherspoons around the corner from Tottenham Court Road. Beers, conversation, a quick trip to the venue to get Brendan and then more beer and more conversation. Then to the gig which was BLINDING!! It was a small venue and the atmosphere was intense. I managed to get some great photos by blagging my way onto the side of the stage (I think Dom was getting quite annoyed at that actually!). I'll have to post them on a separate page a bit later. Cracking day out, definitely one of THE classic 'A' gigs. Leave a comment ::
