10:54 AM E = MC Diego Milito So it was a relaxed Saturday night, and we went down to Tech Noir to watch the Spanish footie and kick back with a few bee-eers. There were people strutting their stuff on the dancefloor having good times: ![]() Whilst I'd normally be there with them, I'd chosen to drive that night so ended up sitting by the bar with a big trenchcoat and staring like a psycho at some girl I fancied. ![]() Just when it was all starting to get to me and I started to reach inside my coat for a shotgun to start blasting away, a tune came on. "Dun dun dah dun dundun dun dun dah dun" At which point I started nodding and started to join in "You will you won't, you do you don't, you saying you will but you know you won't". OBVIOUSLY this was the Zutons. Wrong. It was Crosstown Traffic by Jimi Hendrix! B'oh! Elemental error or what?? The same thing happened again, more embarassingly when I thought Dyer Maker by Led Zep was actually Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship. Bear in mind I was NOT drinking. And it happened yet again after that, though can't remember what it was. Stupid Girl by Garbage and Train in Vain by The Clash perhaps? I dunno. But it kinda proved a point that Bucky made last week, which I initially rolled around on the floor in hysterics at: "The thing is, although bands like the Beatles and Stones were good, but they were pretty jammy in that they got first dibs on all the chords. Anyone who tried to write anything after them would find it was already done." I guess he was right. ----- We watched the Spanish footie with pub music in the background, but I think we missed out on some brilliant commentary. Luckily, Florance emailed through a link of what we could have been hearing. This is one of the funniest online vids I've seen in a while (though it doesn't get going till a qurter through when Barca score). "You cannit count yer chickens before they're hatched mairn, there's still a mile of football to be played" "That's a dodgy way to win it, but by hoook or by croook, the old expression" "Ay ay, look out!" "The go-ahead goal for Barcelona delivered by that littal cheeta Messi" The Geordies; a great bunch of lads. Leave a comment ::
