Inane Rambling of the Day

So every day, I get the bus to the train station, and it's the same people waiting at the bus stop. Normal rules for social interaction apply; don't look at anyone, look in the direction that the bus is coming from, avoid talking, and occasionally check the time. It's tried, it's tested, it works. The thing is, one day the woman walked up to the stop and said "Good morning" to me. What on earth is THAT all about?! Did she not know the rules? Of course she did. Obviously I had to say "Morning" back, as failure to do so would break other rules for how to behave.

The thing is, every day after that, I've found myself having to say "Morning" to her, as not doing so would seem rude. And she says it too. Neither of us want to say it (she clearly regrets her maverick behaviour) but neither of us has stopped. Every day I end up hearing those footsteps walking towards me, and I do the usual routine of looking mildly surprised whilst seeing her, as if it was ever gonna be anyone else.

Urgh, I'm so sick of it. There's only one solution to this problem; I may have to murder her. It's better than ignoring her and appearing rude.

-----

I've recently discovered the joys of Facebook. It's not quite a face, it's not quite a book, but man...

well....murder is one option......or you could try a 'how are you?' and hope to scare her off like that?

and man are you a facebook geek now or what?!

You could 'accidently' stumble into her and 'push' her under the bus.

Or! Move house so you don't have to get the same bus ever again.

Or, do your M J-W dance at, and around her, humiliating her so much that she'll never get on your bus again.

Actually, go with Tim's suggestion, just in case she M J-Ws you back!

Hmmm... FaceBook. The Host has reluctantly joined due to peer pressure, but sees little point other than saving precious texts!

robyn - I could try that, but she's probably plotting to kill me too, I have to make sure I strike first.

tim - Or both!

idv - the MJ-W dance it is!

I was definitely addicted when I joined. That eventually wore off, but I don't know what I would do without Facebook now. I wholly embrace the stalkering.

I of course religiously follow the rules. However, one day, it all went a bit crazy...

Take That were playing at the NEC and all the roads were blocked. We had to abandon the bus and walk to the train station. So, I got talking to this girl from the bus. An amateur mistake I'm sure you'll see. We got chatting, as we walked to the train station, and we chatted all the way, it's a good half an hour walk. All very nice.

Now, the problem came next day. I wasn't sure what the etiquete was, should I speak to her again or remain silent? I wimped out and retained a dignified English silence. As did she. We've never spoken since. But sometimes we catch each others eye. It's our little secret. I feel like we had a one night stand...
