2:51 AM Dare Wun The first Saturday night of the no drinking thing, and it was a success. Yes, things seemed a bit strange throughout; having a kickabout in Col's garden without a beer in my hand meant there wasn't a competetive element involved, and watching the match outside with food would have gone really well with a stubby of Stella. But it was all good, a thoroughly enjoyable start to the night. Then it was the most daunting task of all- the pub. It's the kind of place that really really can only be enjoyed when wasted, but the lack of booze didn't seem to impair the merriment. I stepped up and informed the barmaid that the drinks were being cut out, and after she picked herself off the floor after laughing herself stupid she almost seemed proud. Blackcurrant was the order of the day, and it went down well. That was until I was served by the new guy, who, when I ordered "blackcurrant with lots of ice", proceeded to scoop a shedload of ice into a glass and then fill it up with blackcurrant. Blackcurrant concentrate, all the way to the top. What an absolute lunatic! When I informed him it was customary to just pour a small amount and fill to the top with water and avoid giving patrons diabetes, a pang of embarassment hit him and he poured the concentrate back into the bottle from the glass. Legend. The tunes were phat, the girls were fat, and several songs on the dancefloor later I was spent. What else could top off this successful first night of sobriety? How about seeing Marc Van Bommel of Barcelona and Holland fame right next to us! Ok, it may not have actually been him (I'm sure he's currently in .de bunking up with Robin Van Persie) but it really looked like him. And he had an orange shirt to boot! Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out!

nuts to this thread, i'm still fuming I only got 9 in the 49 II quiz. Moi...9...? Musical genius like me. Skeee - there may be probs with the programme....
