Gigs

I feel well and truly ROUGH. On Tuesday Hannah, Vic, Vicki and myself went to see The Concretes at ULU, a thoroughly awesome band who had eight (count them) members. Their instruments included: guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboards, glockenspiel, trumpet, saxamaphone, tuba, flute and tambourine! No sign of a wooden fish though, maybe I should ask if I can join them. Anyway, top set which included 'You Can't Hurry Love' and 'Warm Night', but strangely they didn't play 'Seems Fine', one of my preferred songs.

Yesterday was the arrival of We Are Scientists. Since they were playing at the Astoria, it was only fitting we did the Astoria routine; drinks and food at the Montague Pyke followed by Budwars at the Cro Bar. The toilets (if you can call them that) at the Cro still had the Lucky Nine sticker we put on a year ago during the Metro gigs, awwww memories!

Things got a little bit dangerous when a random bloke throught I was giving him the w***er motion (I wasn't, it was the 'ummmmmmmm!' motion to Paula) but luckily I walked out unscathed. So me, Col, Hannah, Ben and Ferro headed to the gig and WOW, what a set it was!! The place was heaving, the atmosphere was electric, and the Scientists rocked. The dynamics of mosh meant we all got split up pretty quickly (Nobody Move, Nobody Gets Hurt did NOT apply to the situation), but we all found each other at the end- battered, bruised and sweaty.

The only thing that was needed after that was more beers (there's something about moshing which seems to drain the alcohol from your bloodstream) so it was back to the Pyke followed by a random magician and then home.

And now I'm feeling the effects.

Nurse! I need a bedpan! And a brush!
